A free initial diagnostic to assess the issue and provide an estimate before any chargeable work is carried out.
Most workshops charge you just to look at the car. We don't charge for the initial assessment, and you get the estimate in writing before you commit to anything.
What isn't
If more in-depth testing or dismantling is required, we discuss the costs with you first.
Some faults can only be found by testing a system in depth or by taking part of the car apart. That's chargeable work, so we tell you what it involves and what it costs first. You decide whether to go ahead.

One of our qualified technicians looks over the vehicle and assesses the issue you've described.

We explain what we found in plain English and put an estimate in writing before any chargeable work starts.

Is the entire diagnosis free?
- The initial diagnostic is free: we assess the issue and provide an estimate before any chargeable work is carried out. If pinpointing the fault needs more in-depth testing, we discuss those costs with you first and you decide before we go ahead.
What happens if my car needs dismantling to find the fault?
- We stop and talk to you. Dismantling is chargeable work, so we explain what's involved and what it will cost before we start. Nothing is taken apart without your go-ahead.
Why does your diagnostics page list a price from $90?
- That price is for in-depth diagnostic testing - fault code scanning, sensor testing and isolating a fault across a system. The initial assessment that tells us whether that testing is needed is free.
Do I have to get the work done at Baywrex?
- No. The estimate is yours to take away. There's no obligation to book the repair with us.
Which cars does this cover?
- All makes and models. We're Subaru specialists, but the free initial diagnostic applies to any vehicle we can get on the hoist.
